The Veil’s Image
Fridtjof Schroeder Fridtjof (1917-1990) was born in Madagascar, the son of missionaries. He taught art throughout his life. His work was highly appreciated by collectors in New York and Europe where he received many awards. His work usually held a strong religious theme, thus making non-religious art a rare find. Additionally, he never worked from sketches or photographs. He created directly on an unmarked surface, painting spontaneously so that “the completed work can be as much a surprise to me as to the buyer.” Fridtjof’s works are in museum collections throughout the United States and Europe.
